Do you long for a green roof of your own, or interested in trying out the technology in a small setting? If you have a structurally sound outbuilding- storage shed, chicken coop, shade structure, even carport- we can provide design guidance, practical advice, and logistical help to make it happen. The Green Roofs Over (GRO) Austin pilot project plans to construct a wide range of "postage stamp" green roofs across the Austin area, observing and learning from them in various settings.
How do we build beautiful, effective, resource-lean green roofs in our area, given our droughts and punishing heat? How do we take advantage of the characteristics, conditions, and resources we do have to design and create the "right" green roofs? As green roofs take hold across the world, our bio-climatic region is seen as a new frontier for green roof technology. This project aims to yield a wealth of new information to help develop best practices and increase local knowledge.
